It’s amazing how some people feel they are just so much better than everyone else.  Also incredible when individuals feel they are entitled to their opinion, but nobody else is.  I wish this user would get banned from the gaming news site I’m writing about, as he is clearly abusing his right to participate.

   The same reason why they’re not selling MoH on bases.

   Why would they want to promote a game that allows you to “play as the enemy?”

   It has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with the potential consequences (no matter how large or small) of allowing US soldiers to kill their comrades while playing as their enemy (the Taliban). Maybe it might lead to desensitization of a soldier who then doesn’t feel any qualms about fragging his officer six months from now while on patrol in Afghanistan.

   Will it? Probably not. Should the military take that chance? I don’t think so.

   They can’t stop their soldiers from playing the game, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t do what they can to prevent it from happening.

    I see the same bullshit happen with Kotaku and their dogshit cosplay articles. Just because you’re a big site doesn’t mean you can post whatever the fuck you want on N4G. This had absolutely dick to do with gaming, thus it shouldn’t be here. This isn’t fucking rocket science here.

    Yes, ethics. Maybe you’ve heard of them. Journalists are supposed to have them. Even if you did “buy it from a store that broke street date” (which you didn’t), you know an embargo exists and you still broke it. Just because someone didn’t give you a rule book doesn’t mean the rules aren’t there and doesn’t mean you look any less of a jackass when you intentionally flaunt them, especially when you’re cognizant of the fact that they exist to begin with.

    Jesus H. Christ. I’m 14 years old and I’m aware of this. Is the state of video game journalism so deep into the gutter that a teenager who barely has hair on his balls knows this kind of stuff but an editor for a web site doesn’t?

20. I thought this article was going to be pretty terrible, but it wasn’t half bad. Adding #2 is as cliche as the actual cliche itself and you have some pretty glaring typos (PRG 101?) but for the most part this was a surprisingly well written piece.

    Kudos.

    That’s just lazy writing. Half the description sounds like it was copied from a Wikipedia entry, the other is just half-assed. “I don’t know what is” is a cop-out, it’s used when a writer can’t think of anything more interesting or amusing to end with.
    

23. C’mon. Amuse me. Entertain me. These kind of lists are supposed to do that, and honestly, I felt like I just read 10 synopsis of character bios that I could have found leafing through an instruction manual.

    Did this no-name site actually do the leg work of hunting down a retailer that would risk massive fines to sell a game weeks before its release date, or did they merely download the disc image from torrents and play it like THOUSANDS of modders are already doing?

    Do the math here. It’s not hard.

24. It is unethical (also illegal) if you pirated the game. It is also unethical if you know the game review had an embargo and you elected to break it in order to gain traffic.

    Just show me the receipt and I’ll get off your back and even apologize. For the piracy accusation, mind you. Not for knowingly breaking the embargo. You’re dead wrong for doing that and I think you know it.

    He’s not only overrated, but he’s incredibly pretentious.

    The only good MGS game was the first one. 2 was a disaster, 3 was decent and 4 wasn’t even that fun to play.

45. Exactly. You shouldn’t have to read a goddamn essay in order to understand a story. You should be able to know what’s going on merely by playing the goddamn games –something which is virtually impossible with the MGS series. It’s a huge cluster fuck.

    Kojima is a terrible writer who clearly doesn’t have an editor. There’s a big difference between having a deep, complex story and a ridiculously complicated story that’s complicated just for the sake of it.

    People who defend the travesty that was MGS2′s narrative either have no clue what makes a good story or are too busy clinging on to Kojima’s nut sacks.
